Since its inception just last year, local Albus Lumen has been on my radar. Launched by leading Australian stylist Marina Afonina, the label caught my eye after Marina dressed good friend and client Lara Worthington (née Bingle) in some of her designs. The label features relaxed but structured pieces with a fairly muted colour palette, perfecting the balance between Australian casual and Scandinavian simplicity.

Afonina debuted her Resort 17 collection this year at Fashion Week at an offsite location in Alexandria and it really was resort wear at its finest - the kind that you wish you were wearing on holiday in the Greek Islands or while on a Moroccan escape. The colour palette of deep reds, shades of navy and prussian blue, wheat, black provided the best kind of colour-blocking; working harmoniously but providing an interesting contrast against each other. Laced up (and undone) eyelets, fringed scarves, contrast stitching and clean minimal stripe detailing all paired with simple sandals made the collection perfect for a dreamy getaway.

For a label shy of celebrating its first birthday, Albus Lumen has really set the tone for things to come. If this collection was anything to go by, the only way is up for this Aussie label.

Phoebe Tonkin for Matteau Swim

The last 12 months seems to have been a blur for me. It’s weird to think how much can change in so little time. But I feel like at this present time in my life I’m pretty happy and lucky to be surrounded by such loving, like-minded and positive people.

Over the last few months I’ve been living in a bikini (not looking half as good as Phoebe Tonkin) trying to soak up as much Vitamin D before the temperatures drop and before I’m forced to live in my oyster blue NEUW leather jacket.

In terms of this blog, when I first started it I never really had a plan – it was just a place where I put down my thoughts, what inspired me and pictures I thought were pretty really. I hate feeling the pressure to update and maintain a steady flow of content because blogging has never really been a chore for me but rather an outlet where I can do my own thing. So I’m back at it and have so much stuff that I’ve been waiting to share with you for months, so thanks for sticking by me x
