WHAT I'M PACKING: SKINCARE / UPDATED ROUTINE

Montana Cox by Daniella Rech for RUSSH #52

If you’ve been around these parts for a while, you might know that I’m a little obsessed with skincare. I’m always on the hunt for more lotions and potions to add to my collection and am on the perennial quest to get perfect poreless glowing skin.  Well I think I might be on the right track with my current skincare routine.

Because I’m so invested in my skincare, I will be taking the whole kit and caboodle along with me on my travels so I thought this would be a nice little two-in-one post to show you what I’ve been using and what will be making the journey too!

At home I'll generally massage half a teaspoon of coconut oil to remove my makeup but since that isn't so travel-friendly, I'll be bringing along a mini Bioderma Créaline H20.

To be honest with you I'm not too fussy with cleansers. At the moment I rotate between the Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel and Ren ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser if my skin is feeling particularly congested. I'll be taking the Mario cleanser with me, I'm not usually one for gel cleansers as I find a lot of them can be too stripping but this one leaves the skin feeling refreshed without being tight. I'm also packing a mini size of the Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser because I suspect the hot weather might make my skin a little oilier than normal.

I have been using the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner for almost a year now and I've really noticed a difference since I've started using it. My skin is so much clearer. I've just run out of my beloved SK-II Facial Treatment Essence but luckily I have this little sample bottle with me on hand! I'm definitely purchasing another full size once I'm over there to bring back with me. I've also been using the Kosmea Hydrating Rosewater Mist as a toner and an all-over face mist throughout the day and I really love it. It's such a beautiful product to use, smells unbelievable and is so lovely and refreshing. I'll be popping some in a smaller spray bottle to take on the plane with me too.

The Perricone MD Blue Plasma Orbital is a recent purchase influenced by the amazing Eleanor Pendleton but I've been hooked since my first use and it's become one of my favourite products in my evening routine. It's a very gentle (enough to be used daily though!) gel exfoliant that can be used in a 360 motion around the eyes. It leaves the skin under your eyes ridiculously silky smooth and has really helped the puffiness around my eye area. I've also read reviews from people who've claimed it's helped brighten their dark circles and reduced/even eradicated millia so I'm excited to see the results from extended use.

For the daytime, I'm currently trialling the Dermalogica Total Eye Care which I've been enjoying so far. It feels quite nice and light and the fact that it has SPF 15 is a bonus for protecting the delicate eye area which is especially important now that I'm using the Blue Plasma Orbital at night too.

Ahhh serums, my favourite category of them all. I have been switching up between the beautiful Sunday Riley Good Genes and Elemental Herbology Cell Food. Both are excellent glow boosters and make my skin look and feel super plump and healthy. Because I'm running low on my Good Genes, I'll be taking Cell Food with me this time round.

My moisturiser of choice is the Korres Wild Rose 24 Hour Moisturising Brightening Cream (Oily/Combination). Not only does the wild rose make it smell heavenly, it's also an amazing natural source of Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant and helps brighten an uneven skin tone. It's almost gel-like in texture which is so beautiful and lightweight while still keeping my face feeling moisturised and hydrated.

Rosehip oil is an absolute essential for me especially when on holidays so I'll be taking a little bottle of Kosmea Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. I remember one time on a family holiday my skin decided to freak out on me and just dried out completely. Luckily I had packed a big ol' bottle of rosehip oil with me because it completely saved my skin. I slather this stuff on in place of moisturiser at night if I need an intensive treatment or mix a drop or two in with my Korres moisturiser.

I'll also bring my little tub of Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. I pop this on before I head out the door, it works really nicely under lipstick too because it leaves you with a matte finish rather than a glossy one, and before I go to bed for super soft lips by morning.

I thought I might as well include the two masks I've been using. First up is the Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask which feels quite interesting to put on because of its thick jam-like texture but it leaves your skin feeling so plump, fresh and glowing. It's a great one to use when you need a bit of a pick-me-up or before an event. The GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment is incredible for congested skin, blackheads and blemishes. Unfortunately it's unavailable in Australia but if you can get your hands on it it's a must-buy.

Hope you enjoyed taking a peak into my routine. I'll be posting my travel make up post as well so stay tuned for that if you're interested!

  1. My goodness, you certainly know a lot about skin care! Do you know much about helping eczema/psoriasis?
