Bill Cunningham: a living legend.
I don't think there is a person embedded within the crazy world of fashion that can put a smile on anyone and everyone's face quite like him. And there certainly isn't anyone can pull off cobalt blue like him.
The roving New York Times photographer lives and breathes his work - his New York studio is filling almost to the brim with archival cabinet files full of his work - and that passion shows in the beautiful images he captures on his humble bicycle. The original streetstyle photographer has always favoured photographing real people over celebrities, showcasing what they wear and how it makes them an individual. His On The Street segment is a weekly highlight.
Today the iconic Mr Cunningham turns 85 and shows no signs of slowing down. So here's a tribute and a celebration of all that he has done not only for the world of fashion and photography, but how he has contributed to shaping a culture. He embodies vibrancy in all senses of the word.
I'll leave you with my favourite quote of all time, which also happens to be from the man himself: "It's true today as it ever was, he who seeks beauty will find it".
Amateur editing skills aside, I believe this video sums up the essence of Bill beautifully:
