Toni Maticevski is one of those designers that wows you with each new creation of his. He is such a master of his craf and has established himself as Australia's top designers, constantly pushing the boundaries and delivering stunning collections one after the other. His show at Fashion Week this year was a highlight, with those incredible beaded pieces and standout neon neoprenes... simply put, he is a genius.
I was kindly invited to the showings for his A/W 14 collection and I was blown away by the his talent once again. Beautiful structured bodices, mesh tees, asymmetrical skirts and metallic bombers adorned the racks and. And, of course, no Maticevski collection would be complete without some of his signature gowns – my favourite being a strapless cherry red satin number. Despite it being such a large collection (I'm talking over 80 pieces here!), there was so much attention to detail with each one that made every one of his creations something special.
Toni's use of textures was stunning - reptilian embossing, neoprene, delicate beading, buttery soft leathers and luxe silks worked so beautifully together. Rich shades of red, neon orange and pale purple worked well to balance out the blacks, whites and gunmetal silvers.
The collection was such a visual delight, with a range of beautiful pieces that would made any girl's heart beat that little bit faster. Now if only I had a special occasion to don some of those incredible gowns...
Thank you so much to super lovely Prasana and Toni for having me!
